Beer is ART Show: The Coaster show
September 6 – 29, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, Sept. 6th, 8-11 PM
We’ve all done it. We’ve sat at the bar, drinking a beer and doodled on a coaster.
But most of us aren’t the extremely skilled painters, illustrators, animators, tattooists, sculptors or collage artists that are featured in this exhibition that takes a love of craft brewing and elevates it to high art.
The folks behind L.A. Beer Week produced a custom canvas for some of our favorite gallery folks to do what they do best, and transform a 4″ tondo coaster into museum worthy exhibition pieces.

I found it when I went to desert in Apple Valley, CA a few years ago. People started gathering and taking some pictures.
I found it when I when to forest in Yosemite, CA. I saw when it camouflaged itself before it went into the forest.
I found it when I went to Bank of America. When my friend was at ATM, it came from her back. Did it try to hit on her?!?!
Watching umas is so precious.

ハイブギャラリー(The Hive Gallery and Studios LLC.)はロサンゼルダウンタウンのギャラリーロウ（Gallery Row）といういっぱいのギャラリーが立ち並ぶアートギャラリー街にロケーションしていて今年の４月で８周年を迎えた、入れ替えの激しいダウンタウンLAでは歴史のあるギャラリーです。毎月第一土曜日（たまに第二土曜日）は新しいショウのオープニングレセプションパーティーで毎回新たなテーマの作品、企画展などで盛り上がります。そして第二木曜日はDOWANTOWN LA ARTWALKというLAダウンタウン街が一体となりギャラリーロウのギャラリーが遅くまでオープンしてイベントやったりこれまた盛り上がるイベントです。
そのハイブギャラリーの８月のグループショウChroma Go Goの写真をアップします。今回も素敵な作品たちがギャラリーを埋め尽くしました。
オープニングは８／３でアートウォークは８／８で両方ともたくさんのお客さんが来てくれました。
僕はハイブギャラリーに作品を初めて飾らしてもらい約３年が経ち、レジデントアーティスト（専属アーティスト）として活動をして２年半ほどになります。いわばハイブギャラリーは僕のホームグラウンドなのですが、毎月奇抜でぶっとんだ作品に出会えて刺激をもらえるのはアーティストしては幸せな事です。僕も展示スペースを持っており毎月作品を展示していますので是非遊びにきてください！
そしてハイブギャラリーは日本のアートオーガニゼーション「ARTRATES」とも交流が盛んで毎月日本からのアーティストもひとブースをもうけて展示しています。８月の今月はアーティスト高野恵美さん(https://www.facebook.com/eimi.takano)がギャラリーにお越しになり彼女のかわいいワールドを紹介していました。LAでもとても人気がありました。
８月のThank you!フォトです。
日本から高野さんが来ましたが一緒に７月ハイブで立体を展示したアーティスト「東京ジーザス」さんもハイブにお越しになりました！彼は１１月のハイブギャラリー立体展「Master Blaster of Sculpture V」でFeatured Artistとして数点展示するのでこちらも期待してください。Catwomanありがとうございました！！
